The caged bird sings with a fearful trill of things unknown but longed for still, and his tune is heard on the distant hill for the caged bird sings of freedom.

Precious became fascinated with the human mind and its influence on behaviour at a young age. Determined to become a Psychiatrist, she discovered that psychology was her spiritual calling when she was an undergraduate student. She believed that if psychology helped her have an intimate understanding of herself, she could perhaps embark on a self-discovery journey with other people needing psychological assistance.
Precious has been a Clinical Psychologist for fourteen years. She completed her doctorate in Psychology, which explored paternal filicide, fathers who kill their children, at the University of Hertfordshire in the UK. She worked for the Department of Health, treating children, adolescents, and adult clients at various clinics and hospitals. Precious subsequently worked for the Department of Correctional Services at different Correctional Centres and Community Corrections, rendering psychological services to offenders and parolees, and as a Section Commander holding a Colonel rank at the Investigative Psychology Section, SAPS, investigating psychologically motivated criminal cases. As a result of losing her father to an act of violent crime during childhood, her goal was to help victims of crime obtain a sense of closure.
The clinician is passionate about forensic and clinical psychology and identifies herself as a personal construct therapist. Although her primary area of interest is violence towards the self, family members, and others, she has treated various mental conditions. During her years of service, Precious identified that some people might find themselves trapped in an abyss in which they are engulfed by feelings of sadness, anger, fear, anxiety, and confusion as a result of encountered adversities. In such a dark space, some people might choose what Nowinski (2004, p. 521) referred to as a “dark vision” and use destructive coping mechanisms to numb or free themselves from overwhelming pain.
